Mental Jewellery

People sometimes want to go back. To undo all the bad things that have happened. We know that trauma can be repressed, but never erased. Lasting reconciliation is achieved by emotional awareness, by embracing the change agents of trauma, how they irreversibly change our personality, identity and reality.

So let's embrace the wounds, the scars and the trauma. But how do you kintsugi a soul?

Today the stigma on mental health is still incredibly daunting and damaging. We see people struggle and take away their lives because they're embarrassed to speak up and seek help. Often times people prefer to suffer in silence rather than risk the stern looks of their colleagues, friends and family.

That's why I created Mental Jewellery. Each pedant is a symbol of a silent uprising against the stigma. If you're dealing with a mental problem yourself you can choose to wear yours and stand up to the negative understanding of mental health. It's up to you if you talk about it or you wear it under your shirt - it doesn't matter as long as you don't feel that you have to hide anymore.

I created these pieces by letting them happen, with all their flaws, cracks and bumps. Not only that but I painted them and highlighted them, because that's what makes ups human - our flaws, our expiriences and even our traumas, because we always end up even better than before.
